And our sins testify against us – Isaiah 59.12
And the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin – 1 John 1.7
We are sinners
We have many sins[1]. The Bible says that everyone is a sinner[2].
God sees in our hearts and knows everything that is in them[3]: everything we think, say and do.
Think about your life: you did many things that God does not want you to do and you did not do what He commands you to do[4].
Think about your heart: even if your behaviour was good, in your heart were many sins like jealousy, hate and telling lies. Because of these sins, we are sinners.
We are sinners, weak and bad. It is very important that we confess our sins. We cannot be righteous if we do not understand that we are sinners.
Ask God to show you your sins because it is He alone Who can make you understand your sins.
Our sins need to be removed
God is holy and He knows everything[5]. When we die, He will judge us. He knows our sins. Realise that forgiveness of your sins is necessary to be allowed to enter Heaven and be with Jesus. If your sins will not be forgiven when you die, you will go to hell.
Some people think that food, clothes, money, family and being happy are the most important things in life. Others
think that going to church or looking after the sick is most important. But in the Christian faith we need to know and believe that our sins are forgiven. God says in His Word that you have to seek the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness above anything else[6].
We cannot cleanse ourselves
We cannot cleanse ourselves because:
Turning away and feeling sorry do not cleanse us from our sins
Doing what God wants us to do (like going to church and reading the Bible) do not give us forgiveness of sins[7]
Other people cannot cleanse us from our sins[8]
There is nothing that can give us peace with God. Nobody can give us peace with God.
To be cleansed by the blood of Jesus
Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse us. Jesus’ blood is the blood which He poured out when He died on the cross for sinners.
God promised the blood of Jesus[9]. He said that Somebody would come to conquer Satan.
The blood of Jesus is precious to God because Jesus is God. Jesus died in place of sinners. Because of the blood of Jesus, God and sinners can come together. By dying on the cross, Jesus paid for the guilt of sinners.
The blood of Jesus can cleanse us, even if we did many sins[10]. There is no sin that cannot be forgiven by Jesus.
YOU CAN BE CLEANSED FROM ALL YOUR SINS!
Because of the blood of Jesus, the children of God have peace and hope in God. They are righteous in God’s eyes because of the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus is more powerful than all sins.
Faith is necessary
Faith is necessary so that the blood of Jesus can cleanse you[11].
Going to church, partaking of the Lord’s Supper or being baptized cannot cleanse you from your sins.
It is only faith which can give you all the good things that Jesus paid for by dying on the cross. To have faith doesn’t just mean to know what the Bible says, but also to feel sorry about your sins and to trust that Jesus paid for your sins.
You cannot give God anything to forgive your sins, but the blood of Jesus can cleanse you. The good news is that God can give you everything you need to be saved[12]. It is only God the Holy Spirit Who can give you faith by grace. Therefore, you must to pray God to give you faith so your sins might be forgiven.
Question
You need to know about your sins. I do not ask you which church you go to or which pastor you listen to. I do not ask you what you want to do in your life, but I ask you: ‘Where are your sins?’
There are only two places where your sins can be.
1. Your sins can be with you; you are not forgiven and not cleansed.
2. Your sins can be with Jesus; you are forgiven and cleansed.
Think about this. Test yourself. Answer this question: ‘Are my sins with me or with Jesus?’
Call
If your sins are not forgiven: go to Jesus in prayer so that your sins might be forgiven. It is possible that you have many sins or you did not believe when you were young. It is possible that people or Satan say that you are too bad to be forgiven. It is possible that Satan wants you to honour him. Know this: Jesus is surely able to save those who come unto God through Him[13].
God does not change. Go to Him and His blood will cleanse you from all your sins.
If you do not know what to do: tell it to Jesus. Tell Jesus that you have many sins, tell Him everything you think and ask Him to forgive you.
Encouragement
To those who were taught by the Holy Spirit about their sins and who fled to Jesus: “Hold on to Jesus”. You were a sinner when you fled to Jesus and you still do sin every day.
Hold on to Jesus and ask for forgiveness of the sins you have been doing
Hold on to Jesus and show the world that you love Him. Do what God commands[14]. Be holy and love other people.
Hold on to Jesus and honour Him because of everything He did to save you
Hold on to Jesus and realise always that your sins were forgiven by Jesus’ blood alone.
